Cordic conquer the three peaks challenge
Cambridge UK, 17th August 2015 --- On the 13th June a team of 9 Cordic employees set off in the early hours to help raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to fund research into type 1 diabetes.
Walkers were: Idris Davies, Richard Hurst, Richard Mitchell, David Griffiths, Krasi Kovachev, Simon Oliver, Adam Prosser and the drivers: Barbara Nichols and Matt Gadsby. The team spent hours in training preparing themselves physically for the monumental challenge.
The team started out at 6.30am from Cordic's office in Swavesey, near Cambridge heading to the Scottish Highlands to tackle 1,334m tall Ben Nevis first, then onto Scafell Pike at 913m before onto the final mountain Snowdon, Wales at 1,085m. The drivers Barbara Nichols and Matt Gadsby did a sterling job of transporting the walkers between each mountain in minivans which were kindly donated by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
The team completed the challenge in a time of 23 hours and 55 minutes and smashed their fundraising target of £2,000 to reach £2,575 (correct at time of writing).
Simon Oliver, Operations Manager at Cordic commented:
"With family of Cordic employees affected by Diabetes, doing something for JDRF was just the right thing to do. Organising the teams, the logistics, and succeeding was extremely tough, but brought the whole company together."
